Ramadan and energy level

I'm having problems with the motivation level of my learners in the classroom during Ramadan.
They're mostly dull throughout. Activities like story writing and script writing in groups is struggling. They're more comfortable with traditional tasks like reading comprehensions and grammar activities.

Given a group task, those fasting, hand over the task to the others in the group and become passive members.

Solutions anyone?

My lesson is usually scheduled for the later half of the day, which worsens the problem.

Blogging Starter activity

i’m going to share my reflections on teaching and learning here.

Today, i carried out a class where the learners wrote one blog post (on sticky notes placed around the class). The topic i gave was “I wish..”

They replied to eachother’s posts with a different colored sticky note.

The purpose of the lesson was to prove that blogging could be fun. I could not exactly get to the safety part of it, since a lot of time was taken by them replying to eachother’s posts.

To a person used to a traditional classroom, it might have looked like a chaos, but I know my learners were on task throughout.

My next lesson will be on how to manage a safe blog.

I asked them in the end how they could keep unwanted comments away.

So I think presently i’m on the right track.

:D
